Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Invisalign® is a revolutionary orthodontic treatment system that can straighten your teeth and correct issues with your bite without the use of braces.
The aligners are made of a transparent plastic material, custom-fit to your teeth, using advanced medical imaging technology. We can upload your 3D intra-oral scans to the manufacturer’s ClinCheck® software, which allows your dentist to map out your treatment plan from beginning to end.
Not only will ClinCheck provide your dentist with all the information they need to produce your aligners, but you can see a detailed visual representation of how your teeth will look once the treatment is complete.
The length of treatment depends on several factors that are unique to each patient. It can take 12-18 months depending on the individual, but it is possible to get a straighter, whiter smile in as little as 4 months at Banning Dental Clinics.
You may have heard of discount aligners that are available to buy online. It’s important to know that the purchase of generic invisible braces does not fix your teeth alone. It’s a complex treatment plan, supported by our highly skilled orthodontists who assess your individual case, produce your aligners, and advise how to use them correctly to realise their full potential.
It’s also important to note that aligners are not manufactured the same way. We only use Invisalign® aligners, which we consider to be the very best on the market.
Our advanced capabilities are enhanced by exceptional state-of-the-art technology and industry-leading equipment, allowing us to create beautiful, healthy smiles for our patients. We are even able to transform very complicated, multi-disciplinary cases with invisible aligners, using specialised accessories for treatments previously only possible with traditional braces.
If you have been told you are not an Invisalign® candidate, we encourage you to book a consultation at one of our practices and continue this conversation with us.
At Banning Dental Group we are proud to offer the lowest-priced Invisalign in the UK, without compromise.
Our prices includes a free consultation, teeth whitening, and a comprehensive ITERO 3D scan allowing you to see your Smile Transformation before committing to treatment.
Our packages offer a level of quality and value you won’t find elsewhere. Combined with available finance plans you can spread the cost of your treatment to suit your needs.

Dental Implants
Dental implants are the permanent way to replace a single missing tooth or many missing teeth.
All on 4
All-on-4 dental implants are a good option if you are missing many or all of your teeth.
Replace All Your Failing, Loose, or Broken Teeth
Failed Dental Implants
Only a small percentage of dental implants fail. Certain factors can influence its success rate.
Loose Dentures
Dentures can become loose for different reasons. Loose dentures can hurt, irritate and slip.
Same Day Teeth
Same day teeth are a great option if you’re missing many teeth or missing all of your teeth.
Frequently Asked Questions about Dental Implants
Are dental implants safe?
Yes, dental implant surgeries have been happening for over 50 years with an established pattern of success. It is always best to choose a qualified dental implantologist for your dental implant surgery.
What happens if I don’t get dental implants?
You are not committed to getting dental implants. There are other tooth replacement options such as wearing a denture. If you decide to do nothing at all, you may find that your problem tooth or gap causes you some discomfort and it may affect the health of your adjacent teeth.
How long will my dental implants last for?
Dental implants should last for about 25 years but with proper care and hygiene, there’s no reason why your dental implants shouldn’t last a lifetime. You can prolong the life of your dental implants with thorough brushing and flossing at least twice a day and with regular visits to your dentist and hygienist.
Why do dentures become loose?
It is common for dentures over time to become loose and not fit as snugly as they should. Sometimes this happens because of general wear and perhaps the denture has become too old and needs replacing.
Often, loose dentures occur because of bone resorption. This is where the gums shrink because they are no longer holding teeth in place.
At Wolds Dental, we see many patients from Reepham, Market Rasen, Fiskerton, Gainsborough, Sudbrooke, Cherry Willingham, Nettleham, Welton, Caistor and Keelby and throughout Lincolnshire who are suffering from poorly fitting or loose dentures.
What are the options for loose dentures?
There are several options that we offer patients with loose dentures at Wolds Dental Studio, and we can go through all of these at our consultation.
We will discuss whether you are still happy with the appearance and functionality of your denture teeth. We will determine whether you can still chew and bite together whilst wearing dentures. We will also examine your teeth along with your dentures.
Re-line dentures
After general wear, the most common option to stabilise dentures is to re-line them. Each patient is unique and the rate at which you will need your dentures re-lined will differ accordingly.
A temporary re-line of dentures means we will take an impression whilst you are wearing your denture in your mouth. This material will fill the gap where any bone or tissue has reduced allowing your denture to become more stable.
A permanent re-line of your dentures involves a similar process to the temporary re-line, but the denture is sent away to be replaced with a material called methacrylate. This option is longer lasting but does mean you will be without your denture for a time.
Re-making dentures
If re-lining your dentures is not possible, or if the denture is in bad condition, we may decide that the best course of action is to re-make the dentures.
Implant supported dentures
Dental implants which support dentures have the benefit of extra comfort, less slippage and improved chewing. Mini dental implants are gently inserted into your jawbone using a local anaesthetic and these hold your dental implants in place.
Dental implants
The last option is dental implants, and this means replacing your denture with permanent teeth that look, function and feel just like real teeth.
What are the benefits of stabilising loose dentures?
There are many reasons why patients from Sudbrooke, Nettleham, Welton, Market Rasen, Fiskerton, Cherry Willingham, Keelby, Reepham, Caistor, Gainsborough, and Lincolnshire are choosing to stabilise loose dentures:
Frequently Asked Questions about Loose Denture/Stabilisation
How long should dentures last for?
This varies for different patients, but on average dentures should last for about 7 years.
Can loose dentures cause more problems?
Loose dentures can be uncomfortable, they can cause irritation to the mouth and gums and sometimes this can lead to an infection. Loose dentures can lead to poor eating and malnutrition.
How often should I get my dentures checked?
Dentures should be checked by your dentist regularly, at least every year. They need to be re-made or re-placed once they begin to feel loose in your mouth and this is happens after about 5-10 years.
What is a Failed Dental Implant?
Dental implant surgery has a high success rate with most dental implants staying securely in the gums acting as replacement teeth for many years.
However, a small percentage of dental implants will fail. Sometimes this happens directly after the surgery, or it can occur at a later stage.
To be successful, dental implants need to go through a process called osseointegration. This happens during the healing phase in the dental implant process and is where the living cells in your body grow around the titanium screw of the dental implant, causing it to integrate with your jawbone. Dental implants will fail if osseointegration does not happen.
We have treated patients from Market Rasen, Gainsborough, Sudbrooke, Fiskerton, Reepham, Cherry Willingham, Nettleham, Welton, Caistor Keelby and throughout Lincolnshire who have had problems with dental implants or experienced failed dental implants.
Why do dental implants fail?
Whilst dental implant failure is rare, most of the reasons why it occurs is due to health or medical conditions.
Gum disease
Dental implants can only work if your gums are healthy. Gum disease, especially in the more severe cases, can cause damage to the gums and jawbone which lead to a higher chance of the dental implants failing. At our first consultation, we will thoroughly examine your gums and ask you questions relating to gum disease. Any signs of gum disease will need to be treated before going ahead with dental implant surgery.
Smoking
Smoking can hugely affect the success of your dental implant surgery. Smoking hinders the healing process because it limits the amount of blood that enters the gums. It also impacts your oral hygiene which is another factor in the success of your dental implants. If you are a smoker, we would encourage you to give up before having dental implant surgery.
Jawbone
Dental implants need to be supported by enough jawbone to be successful. A lack of healthy bone will be a good reason for a dental implant to fail. Severe gum disease can have an impact on the state of your jawbone. Osteoporosis can cause bones to become weaker, and this can have an affect on dental implant surgery too.
Medical conditions
Some medical conditions such as diabetes can affect how your body heals. Additionally, some medical treatments, such as those for cancer, can affect how your body heals. A slower healing process can prevent osseointegration from occurring which is necessary for dental implants to be successful.
Oral hygiene
Neglecting your oral hygiene can raise the chances of your dental implant failing. It’s important that you look after your teeth and gums both prior to the dental implant surgery and after it too.
It is essential that when we meet at our initial consultation in Market Rasen, that you be as open and honest with us about any conditions that you have as this can influence the treatment for dental implant and the chance of them being successful.
What is the treatment for Failed Dental Implants?
Typically, you will know that you have a failed dental implant because you might experience pain. Your gums may become swollen and inflamed or you may feel that your dental implant has become loose.
The treatment for failed dental implants will depend upon the specific problem. We will administer a local anaesthetic to your mouth and remove the dental implant. Once we have assessed the situation, we can then make the right decision for how to proceed.
If you have experienced any bone loss, we may suggest a bone graft which will improve your chances of success with your dental implant.
Location
Dental implants are the permanent way to replace a single missing tooth or many missing teeth.
At Wolds Dental Studio in Market Rasen, we have treated hundreds of patients from Market Rasen, Gainsborough, Cherry Willingham, Welton, Sudbrooke, Fiskerton, Nettleham, Caistor, Keelby, Reepham, and throughout Lincolnshire with dental implants.
Whether you have a failing tooth due to decay or perhaps you have many gaps in your mouth, it can seriously affect your confidence. Dental implants permanently replace missing teeth or failing teeth so that you can smile again
Dental implants are usually made of titanium and consist of 3 components:
The titanium screw which is gently inserted into your jawbone and acts as your new replacement tooth root
An Attachment/Post which attaches to the new tooth root and will connect to your new crown
The crown which is the replacement tooth and can be seen in your mouth
If you have one missing tooth, you may opt for a single dental implant. If you have several missing teeth or no teeth at all, you may decide to opt for all-on-4 dental implants which is more cost-effective and a less invasive way to replace many missing teeth.
We have treated many patients withall-on-4 dental implants in Lincolnshire.
Free consultation with treatment coordinator
Our highly trained treatment coordinators will discuss all treatment options and possible fees with you, they can also take an initial xray and some photographs if appropriate to share with the dentist to assess your suitability, your treatment coordinator is your point of contact after seeing the dentist, throughout the treatment and beyond.
Examination and 3D scanning
Once the dentist has assessed the information from the treatment coordinator, the dentist will thoroughly examine you and at this stage a 3D xray will be performed to assess the volume of bone available for implant placement. Full explanation and risks versus benefits discussion will follow and a final treatment protocol is drafted and presented to you for approval including alternative options.
Dental implant surgery
On the day of your dental implant surgery, you will arrive at the dental practice in Market Rasen. We will put you at ease and once you are ready, will give you a local anaesthetic which will numb the specific area in your mouth.
If you have a failing tooth or several teeth which need to be removed, these will gently be extracted.
The titanium screw will then be gently placed into your jawbone. Once this is secure, we will continue to fit the Attachment/Post.
Healing
The formal healing period for dental implants is between 2 and 6 months and this allows the dental implants to fuse with your jawbone. Your mouth and gums may be a bit sore for the few days after dental implant surgery, but this shouldn’t last long.
New restoration is fitted
Once your gums have healed sufficiently, we will invite you back to the dental practice in Market Rasen to have your restoration fitted. This might be a single crown or a bridge supporting a new set of teeth depending on whether you are having a single dental implant or dental implants to support many missing teeth.
Your dental implant process is complete, and you will now have a brand-new smile with stunning looking new teeth.
Maintenance for dental implants
It is vital that you keep up a good oral hygiene of brushing and flossing your teeth twice a day to keep your gums healthy and to prolong the life of your dental implants. You should also continue to visit your dentist and hygienist on a regular basis.

At Wolds Dental Studio in Market Rasen, we have treated hundreds of patients from Market Rasen, Gainsborough, Cherry Willingham, Welton, Sudbrooke, Fiskerton, Nettleham, Caistor, Keelby, Reepham, and throughout Lincolnshire with all-on-4 dental implants.
All-on-4 dental implants uses just 4 dental implants to support a complete set of new teeth to either the upper or lower jaw.
The 4 dental implants are made of titanium metal posts which are embedded into your jaw and act as the new replacement tooth root. A bridge containing your new teeth will then be fixed to these posts. Your new teeth sit in the gums and look and function just like natural teeth.
Free consultation and CBCT scan
At your free initial consultation, we will thoroughly examine your teeth and discuss the benefits of all-on-4 dental implants. At Wolds Dental Studio we will use our CBCT (Cone Beam CT) scan to give us a highly accurate visual image of your teeth and jaw. This detailed scan allows us to identify any possible issues with your mouth and will enable us to accurately place your all-on-4 dental implants during surgery.
All-on-4 dental implant surgery
On the day of your dental implant surgery, you will arrive at the dental practice in Market Rasen. We will put you at ease and once you are ready, will give you a local anaesthetic which will numb the specific area in your mouth. The 4 dental implants will be gently inserted into your upper or lower jawbone, you will be awake but will not feel anything.
Once the dental implant surgery is complete, a temporary bridge containing prosthetic teeth will be attached to the dental implants so that you do not have to wait for your final bridge with gaps in your mouth.
Healing
The formal healing period for all-on-4 dental implants is between 2 and 6 months and during this time it allows the dental implants to fuse with your jawbone. It also gives your gums a chance to recover.
You may find that for a day or two after your all-on-4 dental surgery, your mouth and gums will be sore, and it may take you a couple of days to feel like returning to work or your usual routines. Other people may take a bit longer.
You will be able to eat, drink, talk and smile with your temporary bridge.
During this healing time, we will make your permanent bespoke bridge containing your new set of prosthetic teeth for you.
New bridge is fitted
Once your gums have healed sufficiently, we will invite you back to the dental practice in Market Rasen to have your bespoke bridge attached to your dental implants. This will contain your new set of teeth which will be custom-made to fit your mouth and made of the exact shade of colour chosen before your dental implant surgery.
Your all-on-4 dental implant process is complete, and you will now have a brand-new smile with stunning looking teeth.
Maintenance for all-on-4 dental implants
Maintaining a good oral hygiene is essential after having all-on-4 dental implants fitted as it helps to keep your gums healthy and increases the longevity of your dental implants. Brush and floss your teeth at least twice a day and visit your dentist and hygienist regularly.
If you’re missing many teeth or have no teeth at all, then same day teeth dental implants could be a good option for you.
Same day teeth or teeth in a day, can be used to treat patients in Market Rasen, Gainsborough, Sudbrooke, Fiskerton, Reepham, Cherry Willingham, Nettleham, Welton, Caistor Keelby and throughout Lincolnshire to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth or to replace a completely new set of teeth.
The process for traditional dental implants needs a healing time of at least 3 to 6 months before your new set of teeth can be attached to the dental implant posts which sit in your gums. This time allows your gums to fully heal and for the dental implant posts to fuse properly with your jawbone.
Same day teeth means you are given a temporary set of prosthetic teeth to wear immediately after being fitted with your dental implant posts so that you aren’t left with any gaps in your mouth during the healing period.
Free consultation and CBCT scan
At your free consultation in Market Rasen, we will examine your teeth and talk through the process of same day teeth. We will check your medical history and ensure that you are suitable for same day teeth dental implants.

Once the titanium posts have been inserted into your gums, you will be given a temporary set of prosthetic teeth so that you can leave the dental practice with same day teeth and without any gaps in your mouth.
Healing period
During this time your gums need a chance to recover, and this also allows the dental implant posts to fuse securely to your jawbone acting as your new permanent tooth root.
The healing period usually take between 2 and 6 months and during this time, we will make up your unique bridge containing your bespoke set of permanent prosthetic teeth.
Fitting of your new restoration
After your healing period has finished, we will invite you back to the dental practice in Market Rasen to have your bespoke bridge fitted to your dental implant posts. This will contain your new set of permanent teeth allowing you to smile again with confidence, eat all your favourite foods.

Frequently Asked Questions about Failed Dental Implants
How long should dental implants last?
With good care, your dental implants should last for at least 20 years. 90% of dental implants can last a lifetime given the right conditions which includes maintaining a good oral hygiene, no smoking and with no other affecting medical conditions.
What can I do to improve my chances of success with dental implants?
Please take the time at your free initial consultation to discuss with our dental implantologist, any pre-existing health conditions, drugs that you are taking or issues that you have which may affect the treatment. As well as employing a good oral hygiene before and after dental treatment surgery, you should give up smoking and ensure that your gums are healthy and free from gum disease.
How long do Wolds Dental Studio guarantee dental implants for?
At Wolds Dental Studio we use dental implants which are guaranteed for 3 years.
Frequently Asked Questions about Same Day Teeth
Traditionally, the dental implant posts would not be able to take the weight of a dental bridge immediately. New designs in dental implants mean that they can take the weight of a temporary set immediately. The temporary set of teeth are made to be slightly short of your natural bite so although they feel natural, they won’t be too heavy. After 3 months, your permanent set of teeth can be fitted and attached to your dental implant posts.
Each patient is different, but as a general rule, we recommend that patients eat a softer diet after having teeth in a day and then, in time, progress on to eating as normal.
Yes, teeth in a day dental implants can replace either missing or failing teeth. At your initial consultation, we will examine the health of your teeth. We will only suggest removing your teeth if they are in extremely poor condition or affecting the health of your other teeth.
Frequently Asked Questions about All On 4 Dental Implants
Most patients are suitable, but we will need to examine your teeth and jaw thoroughly. Our CBCT scan at the dental practice in Market Rasen will help us do this. Some patients with certain medical conditions will not be suitable and other patients may not be suitable because they do not have sufficient bone in their jaw to support the all-on-4 dental implants. In these instances, we can explore other options. This will be discussed at your initial free consultation.
The all-on-4 dental implant surgery will not hurt you because you will be given a local anaesthetic which numbs the area in your mouth. Some patients experience some soreness in the next few days, but this is manageable with paracetamol.
You may want to eat softer foods directly after having your all-on-4 dental implant surgery. It won’t be long before you will soon be able to return to a usual diet where you can eat whatever you want and not worry about it affecting your teeth.
